How does the word highlighting work?
El Khamlichi Academy asks your device’s speech engine to read one sentence at a time and receives word-level timing events. A moving highlight follows the voice, with a smooth fallback if a browser exposes fewer timing events.
Are my books uploaded anywhere?
Your PDF and EPUB files and reading progress stay in this browser’s local database. Account and subscription details are handled securely by our sign-in and payment providers. Clearing browser data removes your local library.
Why does the voice sound different on another device?
El Khamlichi Academy uses the English speech voices installed on your device. Voice selection and audio quality vary by browser and operating system.
Which files are supported?
Text-based PDFs and EPUB 2/3 files up to 50 MB. Scanned PDFs that contain only images need OCR, which is on the roadmap.
